Perla Ortiz

Bio

Perla K. Ortiz Acosta is a doctoral student of Clinical Psychology at the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras campus. Her research topics of preference are gender violence and eating disorders. She has participated in the research team of the projects “Gender, migration, and violence: intimate partner violence among Dominican women in Puerto Rico,” research directed by Dr. Elithet Silva, and “The relationship between couples in everyday Life,” directed by Dr. Ruth Nina.

She has experience working and serving the community as one of the main leaders of ANDA, the first support group created in Puerto Rico for patients with eating disorders. Being part of ANDA, she has been able to visit schools, universities, and radio stations to educate about the problem of eating disorders on the island.
